Managing Lawyer

Dean is the Managing Lawyer at AA International Law (“AAI”).

Dean started his career at the Sydney and Canberra offices of AUSTRADE, the Australian government’s trade and investment promotion agency. His time at AUSTRADE included assignments with Export Finance Australia (formerly EFIC.)

Dean spent seven years working in the Big 4, most recently as an international tax partner at Ernst & Young (E&Y) in Tokyo. At E&Y he served as the inbound account leader. In that role he oversaw the delivery of services to E&Y Japan’s foreign clients, including some of the largest Australian companies operating in Japan.

Prior to E&Y, Dean was a member of PwC’s tax and legal services group. At PwC, Dean headed the Pathfinder Group, a team that specialized in assisting clients to establish global operations. He was also responsible for the Japan team in PwC’s Global Visa Services Group.

Dean spent three years based in Dubai where he was the managing attorney of a UAE based law firm.

He also spent several years based in San Francisco where he worked with Silicon Valley clients that were expanding operations beyond the United States.

Since 2002, Dean has taught international tax as an Adjunct Professor at the Beasley School of Law, Temple University, Japan Campus.

Dean is qualified as a lawyer (Australia; USA (California) and as a CPA (Australia; USA (California).
